The Kimberley Rotary Club paid us a visit in January.  A number of their members joined us for lunch.  Pat Barclay, President, told us that their club had lost a number of members so they have reduced their meeting schedule to try to attract new members.
They still meet at noon on Wednesdays at “Canoes and Brews” (formally BJs pub).
Their new schedule for meeting is:
1st Wednesday each month a Business meeting (Directors plus all regular members who can attend) – still counts as a make up for guests.
2nd and 4th Wednesday each month a regular meeting with a guest speaker.
3rd (and 5th Wednesday when they occur) we plan a work party event, a fundraiser, a social, or a visit to a business or another club.
We haven't heard much about Shelter Box lately, so here is a link to a video update on operations from their Headquarters. Very interesting and informative!  LINK

Membership Committee (and the rest of us) welcome new member Marvin Perry. Marvin is the new manager at B104 Total Country radio station.  Marvin can be contacted by email at and cell 1 780-871-2754

The Public Relations Committee Chair is waiting for fair weather so we can install the Rotary Wheel and donor plaque on the Rotary Park Washroom site.

The Scott Villa Committee is working on the maintenance of the buildings.  The roof has been repaired and requests for quotes on a new boiler system have gone out to tender.
Ice 50/50 is going extremely well.  We have received more money than expected through game-day ticket sales. Lallah, Carla and Leanne's hard work is very much appreciated!  Its great to see many of our members out at the games selling those 50/50's!
See our Facebook page for pictures of our recent winners and while you're there, have a look at Sandy and Paul presenting  a $10,000 cheque to Cranbrook Minor Hockey.
The Kootenay Ice and Rotary are supporting local community organizations like Minor Hockey with our 50/50 earnings.
Kim has been busy with the Youth Committee.  She's let us know that we have a RYLA candidate lined up and two new outgoing exchange students traveling overseas this summer.
